Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2026
Milja (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is a music discovery app that lets you swipe through songs to build a personalized taste profile. This policy explains what data we collect and how it is used.
What we collect
Anonymous usage data. When you open Milja, we create an anonymous identity for your device, using Supabase’s anonymous authentication. No email, name, phone number, or password is ever collected or required. This identity is a random string with no link to your real-world identity.
We use this anonymous identity to store:
- Swipe history. Which songs you liked, skipped, or passed on, used to personalize your recommendations.
- Feedback you choose to submit. Optional free-text responses if you use the in-app feedback form.
- App activity. Timestamps of when you open the app, and whether songs you like are successfully saved to your Apple Music playlist, used to measure retention and improve the experience.
Apple Music access. If you connect your Apple Music account, Milja uses Apple’s MusicKit framework to read your library’s genres to seed your initial recommendations, play song previews, and add songs you like to a playlist in your Apple Music library.
Milja never sees your Apple ID, password, or payment information. That authentication happens entirely within Apple’s own system, and Apple’s use of that data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
What we don't do
- We don't require account creation, an email address, or any personal contact information.
- We don't use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We don't sell or share your data with third parties for advertising.
Where data is stored
Swipe history, app activity, and feedback are stored on our backend infrastructure, provided by Supabase. Supabase’s handling of data on our behalf is governed by Supabase’s Privacy Policy.
Data retention and deletion
Your anonymous data is retained for as long as you use the app. To request deletion of your data, contact us at ekamhbhatia@gmail.com with any information you can provide to help us locate your records, such as the approximate date you started using the app.
Children's privacy
Milja is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
